Ashley & Jesse
Ashley was the Bakery technician who traveled across the Carolinas for grand openings, trained cake decorators, and worked on special projects for Lowes Foods. Out of 100 bakeries, it just so happened that she and her co-worker chose to work in Jesse’s store where he was the Co-Manager. They grew an innocent friendship until Jesse finally asked her out, and the two didn’t waste any time falling in love.
The couple bought their first home and after getting the keys and arriving to the house, Ashley asked Jesse to take a picture of her at the front door. She sat down on the steps to smile and as soon as she looked up, Jesse got down on one knee and asked her to marry him with his Great Grandmother’s ring that has been passed down through the family.
Held at the Twickenham House, Ashley described their wedding as timeless, romantic, antique and whimsical.
“I would have loved to live in the 40s and 50s. I’m just a romantic old soul with a love for pretty things. It just made sense to go with what I am naturally drawn to,” shared Ashley.
“Having my father walk me down the aisle was such a special feeling – all while seeing my future hubby smiling at me, ready to say, ‘I do’. We did the tying of the knot, blessing of the hands and communion with bread and Barrington Estate Wine. My Uncle Paul Barrington, my father’s twin and my favorite person ever, passed away from a courageous battle with a brain tumor in 2013. He had made this wine years ago and told me to save it for a ‘special occasion’. I saved it for my wedding day and it was a special moment – including him in our ceremony. The ceremony was by far my favorite part of the day.
“If I had to choose one thing to change in general, it would be to have my new daughter, Shyanne, there to see us get married. She was unable to attend our wedding, but I found my own sweet way to incorporate her into our wedding so when she grows up, she knows we wanted her there. We did a Step Mom/Daughter photo shoot in her flower girl dress and my wedding dress after the wedding! The images turned out so beautiful.
“More than half of our guests traveled from Michigan, California, Florida, South Carolina, and Maine. I’ve never felt so loved in my whole life that all these amazing people in my life would travel that far, up a mountain, just to see us get married. I will remember that forever,” Ashley concluded.
